President Leonid Kuchma Meets with
Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien

President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma and Prime Minister of Canada Jean Chretien held a meeting in Istanbul within the framework of the OSCE Summit there.

The Canadian Head of Government reiterated his nation's intention to continue promoting Ukraine's interests within the G-7.

Mr. Chretien also said that Ukraine, after the presidential election, must not let its chance slip away in the nation's continued reformation.

In turn, Mr. Kuchma voiced his satisfaction with regard to the Canadian-Ukrainian partnership relations and thanked Canada for having supported Ukraine's election to the UN Security Councils's non-permanent seat.
