Memorandum to: Provincial Vice-Presidents of UCPBF:
From: Peter Sorokan, Executive Vice-President

Re: Possible Partnering-Mentoring with individuals in Ukraine

The UCPBF Executive recently asked me to canvas our membership throughout Canada to ascertain whether there is any interest among individual members of the various UCPBAs in Canada to be paired off one to one with an individual who is currently living in Ukraine and who would ordinarily be eligible for membership in a Canadian UCPBA. Actual membership is not a prerequisite. The object of the proposed pairings is to facilitate the exchange of information regarding any matter of interest to the parties. For example, a Canadian participant may need information concerning places to stay during a visit to Ukraine, or may need some assistance in finding contacts in Ukraine regarding some business transaction. The reverse may be true for Ukrainian participants. Canadians may also be able to offer planning and organizing assistance to owners of new businesses in Ukraine. It does not take a great deal of imagination to see the longer term potential in such a project.

We have not approached anyone in Ukraine about this matter and will not do so unless we get a positive response from Canadians.

The purpose of this memorandum is ask you to please canvas your membership and any other individuals, whether or not they are of Ukrainian descent and provide me with the names of interested persons. Each interested individual should be asked to provide a note which should include full particulars of identification, phone number(s), fax number, e-mail address, short description of their business or profession, a statement of any special interests, and some idea of the kind of person they would like to be paired with. If the potential participant prefers, the attached application can be completed and returned to me.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE PROPOSED PROGRAM IS NOT CIRCUMSCRIBED IN ANY WAY. WE PLAN TO RESPOND TO THE WISHES OF THE MEMBERSHIP REGARDING THESE MATTERS.

We will compile all the applications received and keep a record of any pairings that have been made. We will also ask participants to let us know how thins turn out and to make suggestions for improvement to the program. Please note that there is no budget at the national level to support this program.

A response from you would be appreciated as soon as possible. If the response is favourable, we will proceed with a similar canvas in Ukraine and if we find interest there, we should be in a position to make our first pairings sometime shortly after Christmas.

Your co-operation in this matter would be very much appreciated.
