  • Tues. January 15, 2002 - CBC Radio One Broadcast

    CBC Radio One is going to rebroadcast 'Jajo's Secret', which deals with the discovery of the parole certificate of James Motluk's grandfather and through that explores the story of Ukrainian forced labour during World War One. The piece is part of the show OUTFRONT and will air on Tuesday January 15 at 11:45 AM. Please call the CBC to thank them afterwards!

    Service celebrating the Feast of St. Theophany in St. Onuphrius Chapel in the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Service followed by procession and "Great Blessing of Water" on the shore of the Ottawa River. Hosted by Sheptytsky Institute. 12 PM. Information: 236-1393 ext. 2332.

    Co-sponsored by the Chair of Ukrainian Studies at U of Ottawa & UCPBA Ottawa - "The Forbidden Art of the Ukrainian Avant-Garde: 1910 - 1935" by Dr. Myroslav Shkandrij, Professor and Head of the Dept. of German & Slavic Studies, U of Manitoba., and Curator of the exhibition "The Phenomenon of the Ukrainian Avant-Garde, 1910-1935", at the Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Edmonton art galleries.     Ottawa School of Ukrainian Dance presents Poet and Inspiration (Poet i Natkhnennya). Featuring students from the Ottawa School of Ukrainian Dance, Ottawa's Svitanok Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, Serhei Chechui (bayanist) and Lisa Taras-Slodki (violinist).   • Tuesday May 28 - Leo Mol receives award

    Winnipeg based Ukrainian-Canadian sculptor Leo Mol is the receipient of an award from the Government of Ukraine. The ceremony is at the Embassy of Ukraine, 6:30 pm at Somerset and O'Connor streets. The ceremony will be followed by a slide show presentation highlighting Mr. Mol's work.

  • September 26, 2002 - UCPBA Ottawa's autumn kickoff event: Presentations with Impact

    Last year Brian Creamer opened our season with a very successful and well-received presentation on public speaking. This year he takes things one step further and tells us how to effectively present information; a must-have skill for any professional or businessman. After the talk, have some wine with fellow members, network, swap vacation stories and tell UCPBA-O board members what you really think- don't hold back! Location TBA. 7:30pm-10:00pm
