Hello all Ps& Bs Members!
The weather is finally changing and summer is quickly approaching. The Ps & Bs new Board has had a busy start to the year.
On April 30th, we hosted the launch of Victor Malarek's newest book, The Johns: Sex for Sale and the Men Who Buy It. The event was a huge success and Victor was kind enough to donate the proceeds from the sales of the books that evening to the Help Us Help The Children - Anti-Trafficking Initiative. Over 200 books were sold that evening. There was a large turn out of people, not only from the Ukrainian community, but also members of the media and the anti-trafficking community. Representatives from all three federal political parties were in attendance: Borys Wrzesnewskyj, (Liberal), Joy Smith (Conservative) and Olivia Chow (NDP). A special thanks to all who volunteered to make this event so successful!
On May 21st, we hosted our annual Golf Tournament. The event was held at Indian Wells Golf Course with over 70 golfers participating, and as everyone there will tell you, the weather was absolutely gorgeous! The dinner afterwards was at the Golden Lion and the golfers enjoyed a great dinner. A raffle was held to help the Ps & Bs raise funds for many of the projects which we to sponsor throughout the year. Congratulations to the Wertyleckyj foursome for winning the best score prize, Andrei Shklar for winning men's farthest drive and Diane Comtois for winning women's closest to the pin contest. A special thank you to the Ukrainian Credit Union and Future Bakery who were corporate sponsors for the event, and to the many hole sponsors and prize donations.
Although many people use the summer to relax and take a vacation, the Ps & Bs Board will be busy planning our fall events. Currently, we are planning a fall speaking/networking series which we hope will provide the Toronto Ukrainian business community with the opportunity to get together, listen to a short presentation and network. We plan to hold these regularly. We are also going to hosting our annual Career Night, together with the Students’ Clubs of U of T and York. Finally, we are planning to re-launch the Ps & Bs traditional Yalynka event in December. As you can see, it looks to be a very busy fall! Please check back here regularly for updates.
