Appeal to the Ukrainian Community
On 19 February 2009, Dave Levac, Liberal MPP for Brant, Frank Klees,
PC MPP for Newmarket-Aurora, and Cheri DiNovo, NDP MPP for
Parkdale-High Park introduced a joint Tri-partisan Private Members
Bill, the Holodomor Memorial Day Act ( Bill 147), in the Ontario
Legislative Assembly. On 5 March 2009, Bill 147 passed second reading.
We ask all Ukrainians in Ontario to write to Premier Dalton McGuinty
and urge him to support the passage of Bill 147. Please click on

UCC Denounces CBC's Decision to Disband RCI's Ukrainian Section
Winnipeg, March 27, 2009 - The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) calls upon CBC Radio Canada International (RCI) to overturn their decision to permanently shutdown the Ukrainian Section of RCI effective this week after 57 years of service to Canada.
"We understand that the Ukrainian Section of RCI is the only foreign language department to be terminated," stated Paul Grod, UCC National President. "Such a decision is unconscionable and is out of line with the Government of Canada's commitment to Ukraine as one of its top strategic bilateral partner countries."

Dr. Aslund has been deeply engaged in following and advising on Ukraine’s development since 1985. He served as an economic adviser to the Ukrainian government from 1994 until 1997. He was one of the founders of the Kyiv School of Economics. In 2004 he co-chaired a United Nations Blue Ribbon Commission for Ukraine, Proposals for the President: A New Wave of Reform.
Dr. Aslund co-edited Economic Reform in Ukraine: the Unfinished Agenda (2000) and Revolution in Orange (2006).
