UNF Member Babick Receives Award

His Excellency Dr. Ihor Ostash, Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada (left) awarded Dr. Taras Babick, Artistic Director of Orlan Ukrainian Folk Ensemble, with the title “Honoured Art Worker of Ukraine”. Awards presentations took place at the Ukrainian New Year’s Eve Malanka, hosted by the Ukrainian Professional and Business Club of Winnipeg on January 13^th.  In an August 2009 decree, then President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko acknowledged Dr. Babick’s significant contribution to the preservation of the national and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people in the world as well as his high professional and artistic skills.  Dr. Babick is the only Canadian-born Ukrainian to ever receive the award. Dr. Babick then made a presentation to Dr. Ostash, which honoured him as Life Member of the UPBCW.

Dr. Taras Babick represents the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada Board of Directors on the Ukrainian Canadian Congress National Board and is a longtime member of UNF St. Boniface Branch in Winnipeg.
