2011 Paul Yuzyk Award for Multiculturalism Deadline

Cultural diversity is one of Canada’s most valuable assets and greatest strengths. Multiculturalism has shaped our history and helped make Canada a model of unity in diversity.

In 2009, the Government of Canada established the Paul Yuzyk Award for Multiculturalism to honour people dedicated to promoting integration in Canada. The award commemorates the pioneering legacy and achievements of the late Senator Paul Yuzyk in the area of multiculturalism. His efforts helped lead to the recognition of multiculturalism as one of the fundamental characteristics of Canadian heritage and identity.

The Paul Yuzyk Award for Multiculturalism recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to multiculturalism and diversity in Canada. Nominations are now being accepted from the public, and to be considered for the 2011 award, nominations must be postmarked by March 1, 2011. The award is open to all Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

The winner will receive a certificate of honour signed by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism at an awards ceremony in June 2011. In addition, he or she will choose an eligible, registered, not-for-profit Canadian organization or association to receive a $20,000 grant.
