Between August 21st and 27th, 2011 the Toronto Branch of the Ukrainian National Federation expanded its Camp Sokil Summer Camp Program to include a one-week intensive Ukrainian Dance Camp Workshop.

Under the direction of Danovia Stechishin and Larissa Szahrajuk from the Ukrainian Academy of Dance, and with the supervision of camp counsellors Tanya Vodoviz and Adrian Dziwik, the children were provided with an intensive daily routine of Ukrainian Dance instruction coupled with other camp activities such as sports, crafts, and swimming.

At the end of the week, the children put on a concert for friends and family, to demonstrate what they had learned. Parents and children were treated to a family barbeque before packing up and returning to the city.

The Dance Camp is an important part of the revitalization of summer camp programs at Camp “Sokil” which will expand next year with the addition of a second week of dance workshops for more advanced and experienced dancers, as well as streamlining of all of the other camps offered by the UNF throughout the summer.

Information on the 2012 Camp Sokil Summer Camp Program will be available on www.unftoronto.com at the end of this year. If you would like more information, feel free to contact the UNF Toronto Branch at 416-253-6002 or info@unftoronto.com.
