2012 Genie Nominations Announced

Ukrainian Canadians are found on the roster of 2012 Genie Award nominees. Congratulations to the team involved in making the film The Whistleblower, directed by Larysa Kondracki, nominated in six “Best” categories: Best Picture; Direction; Original Score - Mychael Danna; Lead Actress – Rachel Weisz; Supporting Actress – Roxana Condurache; and Original Screenplay – Eilis Kirwan and Larysa Kondracki. Congratulations are also extended to Orest Sushko and Christian Cook who have been nominated in the category of Overall Sound for their technical work on the film A Dangerous Method, directed by David Cronenberg.

“The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television has served to unify the country’s film industry by honouring and showcasing outstanding achievements in Canadian cinema with the annual presentation of The Genie Awards.” The 32^nd Genie Awards ceremony will take place in Toronto on March 8, 2012, and will be broadcast on the CBC.
